North Korea launches multiple cruise missiles

South Korea reported that the North launched a large number of cruise missiles into the sea.

In the statement issued by the South Korean military, it was reported that “many” cruise missiles launched from the northeastern North Korean coastal city of Hamhung were detected. The missiles were said to have been launched in the North’s eastern waters and further details are being examined by South Korean and US intelligence officials.

It was also noted that the South Korean military will continue to prepare and successfully complete the rest of the exercises with the United States.

The missile tests in question mark the fourth missile test since the US and South Korean militaries began large-scale 11-day military exercises last week, which North Korea views as a rehearsal for invasion.

Although the military exercises will end tomorrow, North Korea is expected to continue its tests as the United States plans to send an aircraft carrier for the new tour of joint exercises with South Korea in the coming days.

SEQUENTIAL MISSILE TEST

As the “Liberty Shield” exercise, launched by South Korea and the US on March 14, continues, North Korea continues its missile tests.

The North announced on March 22 that it was conducting a nuclear counterstrike exercise. It was indicated that this exercise consists of three parts, which are the management of the nuclear attack control system, the transition to the nuclear counterattack state, and the launch of the ballistic missile with the nuclear warhead model.

South Korea and Japan announced on March 19 that North Korea conducted a ballistic missile test in the direction of the Sea of Japan (East Sea) at 11:05 a.m. local time. Reaching a maximum altitude of 50 kilometers, the ballistic missile traveled 800 kilometers and landed in the Sea of Japan.

Notably, the experiment was carried out during the “Liberty Shield” exercise, which was launched by the South Korean and US militaries on March 14 and will last until March 23. The Pyongyang administration has conducted 6 missile tests since the beginning of the month and more than 20 missile tests since the beginning of the year. (AA)
