Security agreement signed between Iraq and Iran

According to the written statement of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Press Office, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani met with Ali Shamhani, Secretary General of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, in Baghdad.

During the meeting, which discussed relations between the two countries and regional issues, Sudani stated that he will not allow Iraq to be an “attack zone” against any neighboring country.

Although the agreement signed between Iran and Saudi Arabia under the mediation of China was also mentioned in the meeting between Sudan and Shamhani, no details were given on the matter.

As part of the meeting, an agreement was signed with Iran to strengthen cooperation in the field of joint border protection and security.

Shamhani is also expected to meet Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid and Parliament Speaker Mohammed Halbusi. (AA)
