The court holds Putin responsible for the illegal deportation of people from the occupied territories in Ukraine to the Russian Federation. The crimes are said to have been committed in Russian-occupied territory since at least February 24, 2022.
“There are reasonable grounds to hold that Mr. Putin is criminally responsible for the above crimes,” the court said in a statement. For the same reason, an arrest warrant has also been issued against Lvova-Belova, the Russian commissioner for children’s rights.
Moscow has repeatedly denied that Russia has committed war crimes since it invaded Ukraine more than a year ago.
