Princess Leonor, heir to the throne, enlists in Spain

Defense Minister Margarita Robles, who made statements to the press after the regular weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers, announced that the decree was issued for Crown Princess Leonor to begin 3-year military training in the land, naval and aerial.

Noting that Princess Leonor will begin training at the Zaragoza Military Academy from the academic period that will begin at the end of August or beginning of September, Robles said that the Princess, who will receive training on land and will spend her first year here until swearing in ceremony of the Spanish flag, will later travel to Pontevedra at sea and in San Javier, and has indicated that he will receive aerial training.

Robles also congratulated her in advance on the fact that the future queen, Princess Leonor, will also become the first female Commander-in-Chief of the Spanish Armed Forces.

Princess Eleanor, who has been studying at a school in Wales for 2 years, will receive the military training that her father, King Felipe VI, received in 1985-1989. (AA)
