It remains to be seen whether the indefinite strike, to which the employees had already consented, will not take place. They can still comment on the deal.
All 160,000 employees will receive an average of 11.5% more wages starting in April next year. Until then, they will receive a series of one-off bonuses, totaling up to €3,000.
Great majority
On Thursday, the Verdi union announced that its members had voted by a large majority for an indefinite strike at Deutsche Post. The latter occurred in 2015, when undelivered letters and parcels piled up. Deutsche Post’s collective labor agreement expired at the end of last year. The strikes in January and February have not yet led to a result, after which Verdi proposed heavier measures.
In the Netherlands, Deutsche Post is active with the parcel delivery company DHL. German strikes have had little impact on parcel delivery here.
