The agenda in Syria is rapprochement with Turkey
The foreign ministers of Syria and its ally Iran announced that they welcome the improvement of diplomatic relations between Damascus and the countries of the region after the devastating earthquakes that also affected Syria last month.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan, who traveled to Damascus after his visit to Turkey, met yesterday with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal Mikdad. Speaking at the press conference held after the meeting, where the rapprochement process with Turkey was also discussed, Syrian Foreign Minister Mikdad said that Syria aims to normalize relations with countries in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abdullahiyan also stated that his country supports every step taken to resolve the Syrian crisis, citing the talks between Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey as an example of these steps.
Iran has announced that it will participate in the normalization talks between Turkey and Syria, organized under the mediation of Russia.
