The cover up of the Nord Stream pipeline explosions in September last year read like a German crime. “It would be a team of six who chartered a yacht from a Ukrainian owner in a port in Poland,” Marseille said. “The team on board would be made up of several divers and a medic.”
Then they sail to the explosion site. “That’s where they put on their scuba gear. They carry out the operation and finally deliver the yacht to Denmark. It’s an operation of several days.’ German media portray it as a coordinated action with a conscious goal.
Still many questions
Still, many questions remain, says Marseille. ‘The research often refers to reconstruction and the people he spoke to. But concrete evidence is limited to traces of explosives found in the ship. There is still no information, for example, about the identity of the crew of the ship that carried out the operation. We must therefore interpret these messages with a certain distance.’
