UN: Global supply chain cannot meet carp needs

Rodríguez was connected to the daily UN press conference via videoconference and answered questions from journalists.

Referring to the call for humanitarian aid initiated by the UN for Turkey, Rodríguez called attention to the fact that only 100 million dollars have been contributed to the call, which has already been announced as 1,000 million dollars for a period of three months.

Stating that the tragedy is enormous and that most of the aid comes from Germany and the United States, Rodríguez said: “We need an additional contribution to fulfill the humanitarian aid. There is a well-founded perception that Turkey will successfully carry out an effective recovery and reconstruction process in the coming months.” saying.

“A COORDINATED WORK IS BEING CARRIED OUT”

Stating that Turkey’s general government structure, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, AFAD and the Ministry of the Interior are working in a coordinated and effective manner, Rodríguez stressed that the destruction affected 11 cities and approximately 9 million people.

Stating that the tents and shelter facilities are a great need, Rodriguez said: “The need is so great that the global supply chain cannot meet this need.” he said.

Rodríguez affirmed that they are trying to reach the tents in warehouses on a global scale, and that prefabricated houses and containers are also more expensive but are a good option for shelter.

Rodríguez stated that approximately 600 UN staff members are actively working in the region and 500 of them are Turkish personnel. (AA)
