Great panic on the plane: passenger tried to open the emergency exit
They detain a passenger who tried to open the emergency exit door of the plane and assaulted the stewardess during the flight in the US.
According to news from the US press, the alarm went off that an attempt was made to open one of the emergency exits on the Los Angeles-Boston flight. During checks, it was determined that one of the emergency exit doors moved from the locked position to the open position by approximately one quarter.
While the door was fully closed, one of the flight attendants said that he saw a passenger named Francisco Severo Torres, 33, near the emergency exit door that was trying to be opened and that he was tampering with the door. Torres then got up from his seat and tried to stab a cabin crew member in the neck with a broken metal spoon. With the help of the passengers, Torres was overpowered by the flight attendants and knocked him to the ground.
Torres was taken into custody after the plane landed safely at Boston’s Logan Airport.
Torres admitted that he broke the metal spoon in the plane’s sink, but said he wanted to jump out of the plane because he believed one of the flight attendants was trying to kill him. Torres, who is charged with “interfering with the flight crew and using dangerous weapons,” is said to face life in prison if convicted at a March 9 hearing. (AA)
