The picture of an ambulance team belonging to the municipality of the city of Oropos, near Athens, the capital of Greece, where the 69-year-old woman, who lives alone, has psychological problems and needs help, takes her out of the house and lie down her on a blanket before taking her to the hospital, undressing her and washing her down with a garden hose.

DEFENSE THAT “STAYS DIRTY”

The paramedics said that the old woman had not left the house for days and had not bathed, and that she had a bad smell from her large excrement on the floor, so they had to wash it.

THE AGREEMENT WITH THE AMBULANCE COMPANY WILL BE TERMINATED

The mayor of Oropos, Giorgos Giasimakis, stated that the outdated images that emerged were unacceptable and announced that the contract with the ambulance company would be terminated.

“As a mayor and a doctor, I cannot accept these images, this behavior, all legal action will be taken,” Giasimakis said.

MINISTRY OF HEALTH BEGINS INVESTIGATION

Health Minister Thanos Pleuris claimed the incident was a “pathetic case” and claimed that the issue was not related to the health ministry, but rather due to the negligence of private company health officials.

“Our healthcare teams save lives every day, fighting to save lives,” Pleuris said. These images are absolutely unacceptable and cannot be attributed to all healthcare professionals. We will make sure that those who neglect it are severely punished. These actions are unacceptable. We do not accept these outdated images,” she said.

It was stated that the Oropos Prosecutor’s Office also launched an investigation into the incident.
