Aid to the earthquake zone continues from Greece
Since the first day of the earthquake, Greece has provided support to search and rescue efforts in the region, as well as humanitarian aid.
Under the leadership of the Halandri Municipality on Lesbos, the Solidarity For All Aid Association and the Lesbos branch of the Greek Search and Rescue Association entered Ayvalık through the sea border gate.
Ayvalık Deputy Mayor Tülay Çankaya welcomed the delegation led by Halandri Municipality Deputy Mayors Elena Christouli and Christina Maxxira, Solidarity For All Aid Association directors Manolis Sazzis and Georgos Sazdedakis, who arrived with two humanitarian aid trucks as well as the Greek Search and Rescue Association Lesbos Branch Head Zoi Livalitou.
Halandri Deputy Mayor Elena Christouli Sniparski told reporters that the Greek people strongly support the collection of materials to which the Aegean Communication Association also contributed.
Stating that the Turkish-Greek peoples are very close to each other, Sazzis said: “We have seen very clearly that in schools in Greece and Lesbos, parents wholeheartedly collect their donations and wonder with which organization we can send these collected materials. . to turquia. As the Greek people, our support will continue,” she said.
Livalitou, for his part, expressed his great sadness over the earthquakes.
“The homeless have very difficult living conditions,” Livalitou said. For this reason, we are trying to do everything possible to support the friendly Turkish people in difficult conditions.”
Ayvalık Deputy Mayor Tülay Çankaya expressed that they attach great importance to friendship on both sides of the Aegean and thanked the Greek people for their help.
After the speeches, packages containing tents, clothing, medicines, hygiene items and durable food were loaded onto two trucks assigned by the Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and the Ayvalık Chamber of Producers of Fruits and Vegetables, Elmas Özmen, and were sent to the earthquake zone. (AA)
