Response to terrorism from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the US.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Tanju Bilgic claimed that the US State Department’s 2021 Country Terrorism Report deliberately distorted the fight against terrorist organizations that pose a direct threat to the Turkey’s security, and encouraged the United States to show solidarity. with Turkey in the spirit of alliance, in order to have principles and coherence in the fight against terrorism. He urged a decisive and effective approach.
Bilgic responded in writing to a question about the US State Department’s 2021 Country Report on Terrorism. Spokesman Bilgic said: “The US State Department’s 2021 Country Report on Terrorism deliberately misrepresents the fight against terrorist organizations that represent a direct threat to the security of our country”.
Affirming that Turkey continues its fight against terrorist organizations, especially PKK/PYD/YPG, DHKP-C, FETÖ and ISIS without any discrimination, on the basis of law, and effectively contributes to international efforts in this field, Bilgiç said in the report, the so-called extension of the PKK terrorist organization. He claimed that the mention of the SDF as a partner of the US in the fight against ISIS reveals that “the evil of using another terrorist organization in the fight against a terrorist organization has not yet been realized by the US authorities.”
CALL FETUS
Emphasizing that the report, referring to biased media reports, is “also a freak” that Turkey’s anti-terror operations against Syria and Iraq cause civilian casualties, Bilgiç said:
“The terrorist organization character of FETO, which was the perpetrator of the bloody coup attempt in our country in 2016 and was involved in criminal activities in all the countries where it is located, including the US, has been revealed. by the Turkish judiciary through judicial decisions based on concrete evidence. Therefore, it is unacceptable to describe our fight against FETO members as politically motivated in the report. Our expectation from the US is to end FETO’s presence and activities in their country as soon as possible.”
On the other hand, noting that the report’s inclusion of accusations “based on rumors and biased media reporting” casts doubt on the seriousness of the report, Bilgiç said: “We have led the United States to show solidarity with our country in accordance with the spirit of alliance, to adopt a principled, coherent, determined and effective approach in the fight against terrorism.
