Visa Statement for England Earthquake Victims
The British government, in its response to the petition launched to grant a special visa to the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, announced that it has no plans in this regard.
Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine last year, more than 100,000 people supported a petition launched by the UK, granting the right to bring relatives to Ukrainians in the UK, to give a similar right to relatives of those affected by the earthquake. in Turkey The issue was discussed by parliamentarians.
According to the news reported by BBC Turkish, the email sent by the Ministry of Interior to those who participated in the petition included the following statements: “The situation in Turkey is different from that in Ukraine, and each crisis must be responded to in a unique way. .”
‘STANDARD VISA PROCEDURES MAY APPLY’
Stating that they have sent rescue teams to Turkey and provided financial assistance, the ministry said that they are in contact with the Turkish government to meet the needs in the field. “The Russian invasion of Ukraine is an ongoing conflict. This instability continues to threaten the lives of Ukrainians, and the type of visa we created allows Ukrainians to stay here temporarily until their country is safe.”
“The situation created by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey requires a different kind of support. The British government has no plans to create a new type of visa for British citizens to bring relatives of earthquake victims. We are aware that some displaced people may wish to join family members in the UK. If these people do not have a visa, they can obtain one by applying standard visa procedures.”
Recalling that the closest visa center to the earthquake area is in Adana, the ministry said that visa holders can stay with their relatives in England for up to six months.
