Twitter Suspends US Senator Mike Lee’s Account

Utah Senator Lee, in a post on his official Twitter account, stated that his personal account was suspended, “Twitter did not warn me in advance and has not yet made a statement on the suspension.” he used the phrase.

Lee noted that he and his team are awaiting a response from Twitter to their questions.

Twitter has yet to comment on why Lee’s personal account, which has 71,500 followers, has been suspended, compared to Lee’s official account, which has 697,000 followers.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Senator Lee, on his personal account two days ago, tagged the account of Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and demanded the release of Ridge Alkonis, an American soldier imprisoned in Japan.

Lee said: “Please return Lieutenant Ridge Alkonis to US Navy custody within 48 hours. If he does, I am prepared to completely forget about this unfortunate event. If he doesn’t, we’re going to have a long SOFA (Status of Forces Agreement) talk that he might not like.” he had used the words.

The vehicle used by Ridge Alkonis, who was on duty at the Yokosuka Naval Base in Japan, entered a restaurant parking lot on May 29, 2021 and crashed into many parked vehicles and pedestrians in the Mount Fuji region. Two Japanese died as a result of the accident, one 85 years old and the other 54 years old.

Alkonis was sentenced to 3 years in prison by a Japanese court for causing a fatal traffic accident.

His family claims Alkonis did not get a fair trial, as they claimed he was in an “unavoidable accident” because he lost consciousness at the wheel. Japanese authorities say Alkonis fell asleep at the wheel and that his sentence was in line with those for similar offences. (AA)
