Earthquake zone assistance from the International Atomic Energy Agency

The Austria-based IAEA said it sent portable X-ray medical devices this week after the February 6 earthquakes that hit Turkey and northwestern Syria, and will continue to send them with an additional support package.

In the statement, it was stated that “in the first emergency support package, the IAEA sent portable and mobile X-ray devices to Turkey as emergency aid to strengthen the country’s medical response system under pressure,” adding that Additional devices will be purchased and shipped in the coming days.

For the support package to be delivered in the coming days, the IAEA statement said: “The IAEA is preparing to send further support packages, including X-ray equipment and technical support, to Turkey and Syria in the coming weeks. The agency and the two countries are also evaluating the need for non-destructive testing equipment to assess structural damage to buildings.”
