Greta Thunberg arrested in action in Norway
Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg was arrested at a demonstration in Norway.
Images of Thunberg, who was detained at the demonstration held at the Ministry of Finance building in Oslo, the capital of Norway, by the police along with other protesters, were reflected in the press.
It should be noted that the police also took the flag that belonged to the natives in Thunberg’s hand. The young activist was reportedly released later.
Thunberg, 20, one of the world’s leading figures for environmental rights, was arrested in January in the city of Lützerath, Germany, as she fled against the coal mine.
Norwegian protesters have long been protesting for the removal of wind turbines placed on indigenous lands in the center of the country. Activists have also blocked access to some ministry buildings in Norway for several days.
Norwegian Energy Minister Terje Aasland canceled his visit to England due to the events. Indigenous communities in the region argue that the wind turbines scare away animals and undermine ancient traditions.
