Ukraine calls for negotiations with Turkey and the UN
Ukraine called on the United Nations (UN) and Turkey to start negotiations on the extension of the Black Sea grain deal.
A Ukrainian government source said there has been no response to the call yet.
Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Reconstruction Yuriy Vaskov told Reuters last week that Ukraine will this week ask Turkey and the UN to start negotiations on a one-year extension to the agreement, adding the ports of the city of Mykolaiv to the ports where grains are exported. are allowed.
Despite the Russian occupation, the agreement allowing Ukraine to export grain from some Black Sea ports was signed in July last year. The agreement, which was extended in November, will expire on March 18, unless there is a further extension.
“We have sent a letter requesting to start dealing with this issue as there is little time left until March 18, but so far we have not received any feedback,” the source said.
