Reuters: Number of Syrians Leaving Turkey Rising

It has been reported that the number of Syrians returning to their country after the earthquakes that caused great destruction in 11 provinces of Turkey and northern Syria has reached 40,000.

Speaking to Britain’s Reuters news agency, a Turkish official and a representative of the Syrian opposition announced that the number of people who left earthquake-hit areas in Turkey and returned to opposition-held areas in Syria reached 40. thousand. Mazen Alush, who works at the Bab el Hava border crossing, noted that the reverse migration figures are based on data from four border points.

Alush stated that 13,500 Syrians in Bab el Hava, 10,000 in Jarablus, 7,000 Syrians in Bab el Selam and Tel Abyad each crossed from Turkey into their countries.

Speaking to Reuters, a Turkish Defense Ministry official confirmed that up to 40,000 Syrians had left Turkey as of yesterday. The official said the number of Syrians returning to their country is expected to increase further.

According to the news, many Syrians are returning to their country temporarily to see their relatives and get away from the earthquake area after their homes and workplaces were destroyed by the earthquakes.

In the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş, nearly 6,000 people lost their lives in northern Syria.

Turkey allowed Syrians to go to their country for 6 months after the earthquakes. National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar announced last week that the number of Syrians returning from Turkey to Syria has exceeded 20,000.
