North Korean leader calls for ‘radical change’

At the second session of the Labor Party Central Committee meeting on agricultural issues, North Korean President Kim Jong-un called for a “radical change” in agricultural production within a few years.

According to the Yonhap news, which is based on North Korea’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim stressed that new ways should be found for the “stable and sustainable development of agriculture” at the meeting, saying that agricultural production should be changed. North Korean leader Kim said the main goal of the meeting was to find ways to achieve a radical change in agricultural production in a few years, with an excellent feasibility study to achieve this year’s grain production target.

In some reports, it was claimed that food shortages increased in North Korea, which closed its borders completely after the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, and many people may have starved to death. Experts reported that it is difficult to predict the situation because North Korea closed its borders and there are no data on mass deaths from hunger in the country. (AA)
