The balance becomes heavier in the disaster of immigrants in Italy

The balance becomes heavier in the disaster of immigrants in Italy

The death toll rose to 61 after a ship carrying irregular migrants in the Mediterranean crashed against rocks in Italy yesterday.

Local government official Manuela Curra told Reuters a new body was found in the sea. Curra, in her earlier statement, said 81 people survived the crash and 20 people, including one in intensive care, were treated at the hospital.

Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, who visited the region, said that between 20 and 30 people may still be missing. There are believed to be between 150 and 200 refugees on board.

About four days ago, the ship, which was heading to Europe from Izmir and sank near Steccato di Cutro, the coastal region of Calabria, was carrying migrants from Afghanistan, Iran and other countries. (Reuters)
