Peru announces that it is withdrawing its ambassador from Mexico
In his message to the nation, Boluarte announced that they would withdraw the Peruvian ambassador from Mexico indefinitely, in reaction to López Obrador’s statements against his government.
Criticizing López Obrador, Boluarte said: “I have ordered the definitive removal of our ambassador in Mexico. Thus, diplomatic relations between Mexico and Peru fell on the commercial level. I consider unacceptable and I reject the statements of the President of Mexico on the internal affairs of Peru. Mr. López, with his statements, violated the principle of international law not to interfere in the internal affairs of another country.
Arguing that López Obrador has damaged relations between the two countries, Boluarte said that “Mr. López has decided to seriously influence the two centuries of relations of mutual respect, friendship, cooperation and integration that have historically united Peru and Mexico.”
The president of Mexico, López Obrador, in his daily press conference at the National Palace, affirmed that the former president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, was unjustly dismissed by Congress and said: “We consider it a great injustice that he was dismissed for being elected by people. “The conservatives in Peru, which is also a minority, violated the constitution,” he said.
