Snowstorm paralyzed the US

A firefighter lost his life as a severe snowstorm affecting the North and Upper Midwest regions of the US left more than 900,000 people without power, causing the cancellation of thousands of flights.

While the US National Weather Service warned of 18 inches of snow for the northern US, covering a wide area from Washington state to New England, and winds of up to 50 mph, which can affect the whole day, he stated that the air temperature can feel like -40 degrees due to the effect of the wind.

According to the Poweroutage.us website, more than 900,000 homes and businesses lost power yesterday in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York and Wisconsin. According to the Flightware.com website, more than 2,000 flights have been canceled and 15,000 delayed. (Reuters)
