Hungary will send a delegation to Sweden and Finland as part of NATO membership

At a press conference, Mate Kocsis claimed that Prime Minister Viktor Orban supports NATO membership for Sweden and Finland, but Fidesz lawmakers are divided on this issue.

Kocsis stated that some parliamentarians did not want to support NATO membership of these countries due to the attitudes of Swedish and Finnish politicians towards Hungary. A serious discussion followed. Many MPs objected that “politicians from these countries have grossly and baselessly insulted Hungary in recent years and are now asking for favors.” he used his statements.

Noting that the president of Parliament will send a delegation to Sweden and Finland for information and negotiation purposes, Kocsis said that such a decision does not mean that the process will be prolonged or delayed, and that the membership decision will be made in Parliament. .

Emphasizing that the Russia-Ukraine war is not Hungary’s war and that the government is in favor of peace, Kocsis said that the Fidesz groups and the Christian Democratic People’s Party (KDNP) will submit a political statement on the war to parliament.

Kocsis argued that the Hungarian government was under pressure because of its stance on the Russia-Ukraine war.

Stating that Hungary’s commitment to peace will be included, Russia’s aggression will be condemned, Ukraine’s right to self-defense will be supported, Kocsis said in the political statement to be presented to parliament, that the European Union sanctions ( EU) against Russia will be rejected, and that assistance to Ukrainian refugees will continue, and that the war will seriously affect the Hungarian minority in Ukraine.
