Palestine condemned that decision by Israel… Approval to build houses in the occupied region
In a written statement issued by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, it was noted that Israel approved the illegal construction of new houses in the context of its racist colonial policy centered on the silent annexation of occupied Palestinian lands.
In the statement condemning the approval given by the Israeli authorities to the construction of a thousand illegal residences in the West Bank, it was stated that the Tel Aviv administration underestimated the unanimous declaration of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and the international resolutions with which said step.
In the statement demanding that UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and the UNSC take steps to implement the relevant resolutions, a call was made to ensure the international protection of the Palestinians.
Jewish settler-affiliated Channel 7 television announced that Israel’s Supreme Planning and Building Council had approved the construction of 1,000 new homes in the illegal “Gush Etzion” settlement in the southern West Bank.
The Israeli administration has not yet ruled on the matter.
There are more than 250 illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank, which Israel occupied in 1967. More than 600,000 Jewish settlers residing in these places make life even more difficult for Palestinians living under occupation in the West Bank.
Under international law, all Jewish settlement in the occupied territories is considered illegal. (AA)
