Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtiyya called on the European Union (EU) to “put an end to the policy of double standards that encourages Israel to continue its attacks.”

According to the statement from the Prime Minister’s Office, Shtiyya received a delegation from the European Parliament headed by Margrete Auken, responsible for relations with Palestine, at his office in Ramallah. The EU representative in Palestine, Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff, was also present at the meeting.

Shtiyya briefed the delegation on “the increasing violations by the invaders against the Palestinians and the latest of these, the massacre in Nablus.”

Palestinian Prime Minister Shtiya called on the European Union (EU) to “end the policy of double standards that encourages Israel to continue its attacks and take punitive measures to stop Israel’s violations of international law in Palestine.” “.

Calling on the European Union to recognize the Palestinian state, Shtiya accused Israel of trying to prevent the visit of the European Parliament delegation to Palestine by detaining and deporting a Spanish lawmaker and not issuing a travel visa to another member of the delegation.

Shtiyya stressed that this behavior “is unacceptable and Israel must not be allowed to be above the law.”

The members of the European delegation also stressed that the EU and its countries believe in the “principle of the two-state solution aimed at establishing a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.”
