Spain announces the shipment of 6 Leopard tanks to Ukraine
Spanish Defense Minister Robles, speaking in parliament, said that the 6 Leopard 2A4 tanks to be delivered to Ukraine to be used in the war against Russia will be shipped in late March or early April.
Noting that 50 tanks in the Casetas warehouse (Zaragoza city) belonging to the Land Forces were in poor condition and that the best 6 were selected from them, Robles indicated that these tanks, which are located in the Santa Bárbara company in Seville for its maintenance, it will be ready at the end of March.
Robles also indicated that 55 Ukrainian soldiers, 40 of whom are tank crews, are being trained in Spain.
Noting that since the start of the war with Russia, 54 pieces of diverse military material have been sent to Ukraine, 42 of them by air, 9 by land and 3 by sea, Robles said, without going into too much detail, including 190 rocket launchers, weapons light and ammunition, machine guns, rifles, bullets, Hawk and Mistral air defense systems, 10 light and 10 heavy vehicles and 5 ambulances.
On the other hand, Robles also confirmed that Spain will deploy Nasams-type anti-aircraft missiles in northern Estonia for 4 months starting in April to protect the airspace on NATO’s eastern flank.
The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, told the EFE news agency that “neither Spain, nor the Spanish Government, nor Europe, nor any European partner, nor NATO, nor any NATO ally wanted this war, not the I supported and didn’t want it to happen.
