Earthquake assistance from NATO allies continues

In a statement released yesterday by NATO, it was claimed that 500 tents that left Pakistan arrived at the Incirlik base in Adana.

In addition to the tents, it was noted that 10 metric tons of medical aid was shipped with the same cargo and each tent was 23 square meters. NATO stressed that it has sent a total of 279 tons of humanitarian aid to Turkey since February 7.

Regarding the shelter facilities previously announced by NATO, “At the same time, NATO is sending around 1,000 containers to Turkey to provide temporary shelter for several thousand people. The first merchant ship carrying hundreds of containers left the Italian port of Taranto for Turkey on Sunday, February 19, 2023 and is expected to arrive this week.

NATO HOUSING FACILITIES

In a NATO written statement on February 10, it was stated that the Allies had agreed to deploy fully equipped semi-permanent shelters (containers) to help house people displaced by the devastating earthquakes of February 6.

It was stated that the container-shaped shelter facilities are normally used by NATO as a deployable headquarters complex for exercises and operations and can be equipped with a variety of amenities, including heating, power generators, medical treatment areas.
