Gift of an acre of field to the attacker of Iran’s Salman Rushdie
The person who attacked the famous Indian-British writer Selman Rushdie, who has received death threats for years because of his book “The Satanic Verses”, has received an award from Iran.
Rushdie, 75, who was attacked with a knife at an event he attended in New York in August, lost an eye and was unable to use a hand.
The 24-year-old Lebanese attacker, Hadi Matar, said in her statement that Rushdie “attacked Islam.” Matar, who denied the accusations, also claimed that he was affected by the death fatwa issued against Rushdie by the leader of the Iranian revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini.
The Iranian group, the Association for the Implementation of Imam Khomeini’s Fatwas, praised the attack on Rushdie and announced that it would hand over 1 acre of land to the attacker Matar.
“We thank Rushdie for the brave action of the young American, who made the Muslims happy by blinding Rushdie and rendering his hands inoperable,” said Mohammed Ismail Zarey, president of the association. Zarey, arguing that Rushdie is now a “living dead”, noted that they would be happy to present 1 acre of farm land to Matar.
