Visit of the leader of the British Labor Party Starmer to the aid center for the victims of the earthquake
According to the statement from the Turkish Consulate General in Edinburgh, Starmer and Scottish Labor Party leader Anas Sarwar were received by Consul General Özgür Yavuzer.
Speaking to Labor Party officials about the work done on earthquake relief, Yavuzer said the Turks, Scots and the Muslim community living in the country supported the relief activities.
Expressing his condolences to those who lost their lives in the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş, Starmer said he brought the issue up on the agenda at the Scottish Labor Party Congress, which he attended, and closely followed the events. Starmer repeated his message of solidarity with Turkey.
After the earthquakes, Scotland launched an aid campaign for Turkey and Syria. In promoting the campaign, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and representatives of Scottish political parties called for support for the campaign. (AA)
