35 members of the US House of Representatives, in a letter they wrote to USAID Administrator Samantha Power, demanded continued aid to Turkey and Syria, where earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş experienced extensive destruction.

Led by Democrat Gerry Connolly, a member of the US House of Representatives from Virginia, the call called on USAID and the US government to continue their rapid response to the humanitarian crisis.
In the letter, it was noted that USAID saved lives in the immediate aftermath of the earthquakes by dispatching search and rescue teams from the states of California and Virginia, including the Disaster Response Team (DART).
