The search and rescue team from Serbia to Turkey returned to the country.

Returning to Belgrade, the Serbian search and rescue team was received by Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic and Turkish Ambassador to Belgrade Hami Aksoy.

In his statement here, Gasic said that the search and rescue team, which went to the earthquake zones in Turkey by order of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, immediately set out to carry out their duties without asking how long they would stay there and if the area was safe.

Noting that the team showed the “best face” of Serbia in the earthquake zones, Gasic said: “They saved 3 lives and helped the Turkish people for 8 days.” saying.

Gasic stated that his country will always lend a helping hand to its friends who need help.

“SERBIA SHOWED THAT TURKEY IS A TRUE FRIEND”

Ambassador Aksoy said: “Today is really a very significant day. I can say that it is the most important day in terms of Turkey-Serbia relations. Today the Serbian search and rescue team returned to Belgrade. They saved our 3 lives in Turkey. When the earthquake happened on February 6, the next day I met with the Minister of the Interior (Bratislav Gasic) and that night this team left for Turkey. (The team) was in Turkey right after the earthquake and began search and rescue efforts.” he said.

Remembering the proverb “A friend is known on a dark day,” Aksoy said, “Serbia has shown that it is a true friend of Turkey. Serbia has helped us as a whole country, with both in-kind and cash donations.” phrases.

Search and rescue team leader Davor Vidovic said they did their duty to help the Turkish people to the best of their ability.

“We set out with the hope that we can save people’s lives without fear or dilemmas. We stepped on land constantly shaken by earthquakes, parents were looking for their children, children were looking for their families. None of us can describe the joy we felt when we found a 17-year-old girl alive under the rubble.” he said. (AA)
