The United States claims it is a spy balloon, but Beijing denies it. China has repeatedly claimed that it is a weather balloon that was blown off course by the wind. President Joe Biden said on Thursday that the United States would continue to communicate with the Chinese but would not apologize for the action described in Beijing as an overreaction.
The huge Chinese balloon was shot down by a fighter jet on February 4, at the behest of Biden. It happened after that balloon flew over American territory for days. For safety reasons, the authorities waited for the balloon to fly over the water before shooting it down.
Security measures
The United States is taking security measures in response to the Chinese balloon and three unknown objects that have flown into US airspace. President Joe Biden makes no apologies for downing the items. According to American expert Raymond Mens, NORAD has “opened all stops” to investigate the situation.
There will be a better overview of unmanned objects in the United States and steps will be taken to improve the detection of such objects. The rules and regulations relating to these objects will also be updated. Foreign Minister Antony Blinken will lead an initiative to ensure global standards.
