Putin’s war is costing the Russian economy $190 billion due to the delayed deal

06:35 | An economy that Putin once aimed to make one of the world’s five largest will lose $190 billion in gross domestic product from its prewar trajectory by 2026, roughly the equivalent of countries’ entire annual GDP, according to Bloomberg Economics as Hungary or Kuwait.

According to analysts polled by Bloomberg, the year-over-year decline in the recent quarter is likely to have strengthened, and this year could start even worse. In what would be the sharpest contraction since the height of the global pandemic, data expected on Friday will show fourth-quarter GDP fell 4.6% year-on-year, the Bloomberg survey suggests.

Ukrainian psychologists do not find work here

05:00 |Escaped Ukrainian psychologists who want to treat fellow countrymen are finding it difficult to find work in the Netherlands. And this while the number of Ukrainian refugees in need of psychological assistance increases.

This was stated by Volkskrant PsyGlobal, an organization that is committed to ensuring that refugees, asylum seekers and status holders in the Netherlands receive psychological assistance in their own language. According to President Esther Haaijema, at least 80 qualified Ukrainian psychologists are eager to start working in Dutch mental health institutions. “But they encounter all kinds of obstacles.”

For example, diplomas of Ukrainian psychologists need to be translated and evaluated before they can work. According to Haaijema, the Netherlands is strict about this, meaning that the diplomas of expert psychologists are valued so low that they cannot use them in Dutch mental health care. “Insurers are not allowed to reimburse a treatment from a psychologist.”
