Aid collected by Turkish citizens living in Belgium and non-governmental organizations was sent to the earthquake victims in Turkey.

With the help collected in the country, 968 tents, 1,075 generators, 2,498 heaters, 76,734 blankets and 3,936 sleeping bags were delivered. Aid was delivered to Turkey with 87 trucks and 4 cargo planes.

IRELAND

More than 60 tons of relief materials have been collected so far in Ireland, where relief efforts began after the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş.

According to the statement from the Turkish Embassy in Dublin, the collected relief materials will be delivered to Turkey by regular Turkish Airlines (THY) flights with trucks departing from Dublin port.

LATVIA

In a statement to AA correspondent, Turkey’s ambassador to Riga, Şule Öztunç, stated that the Latvian government decided to give 70,000 euros of cash aid on February 7 after the earthquake and shared the information that this aid was transferred directly to the AFAD account on February 8.

Noting that Latvia also made a decision for 200 thousand euros in in-kind aid, Öztunç said that in this context, more than 11 tons of relief materials, including 5 thousand blankets, were sent to Turkey today.

Öztunç underlined that in addition to the cash donations received for aid within the framework of the Embassy campaign, intensive in-kind aid was provided to Latvian and Turkish citizens and the Azerbaijani community in Riga, and these aids were classified and sent along with the Embassy. staff, Turkish students and citizens in Latvia stated that it was ready to be deployed.

Noting that “Ziedot.lv”, the largest non-governmental aid organization in Latvia, started an aid campaign in Latvia in coordination with the Turkish Embassy, ​​Öztunç said:

“With the help accumulated in the bank accounts of this organization, the materials that are most needed in the earthquake zone are purchased. In this context, the material consisting of 5 shelter containers, 42 mobile toilets, 4 generators, 405 blankets and 100 sleeping bags will be sent to Turkey by truck on February 17. Arrangements are being made for another truck with these aids to leave on February 20.”

Ambassador Öztunç stated that some Turkish companies in Latvia also received help, and TAV Latvia donated 50 thousand euros in this context.

Öztunç stated that 55 parcel packages consisting of blankets, sleeping bags and winter clothing from ATU and HAVAŞ companies were sent to Turkey on February 10, adding: “In addition, our tourism company Coral Travel has delivered the aid in kind consisting of blankets to the ‘Ziedot.lv’ warehouse, as the materials are collected here, they are transported to our country by road or by air. Media Port, which is also a Turkish company and operates the Riga airport billboards, gives Latvians the opportunity to donate directly to AFAD via the QR code on the billboards.” he said.

Öztunç stated that Vadims Lasenko, president of the Latvian Football Federation, arrived at the embassy on February 13, adding that they shared information that they directly sent 10,000 euros in cash to the Turkish Football Federation. (AA)
