South Korean lawmakers to donate part of their salaries to earthquake victims

The South Korean National Assembly approved the decision that 3 percent of parliamentarians’ salaries will be donated to support earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria due to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

According to the Yonhap news agency, the resolution, which includes rapid support measures for the disaster victims in Turkey and Syria affected by the earthquakes with its epicenter in Kahramanmaraş, was approved with the approval of 228 of the 229 deputies in the General Session of the Parliament.

THE PRESIDENT GAVE INSTRUCTIONS

The decision includes supporting search and rescue and restoration work in the two countries, taking security measures for Korean immigrants, students and tourists in the earthquake zone, donating 3 percent of parliamentarians’ salaries to support the earthquake victims.

President Yoon Suk-yeol had ordered yesterday to mobilize all available resources due to the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş. The Seoul administration will send 150 tents and 2,200 blankets, as well as additional support equipment, via military plane on February 16; It was indicated that a total of 372 health workers, 29 of them in one week, would be sent to Turkey.
