Christodoulides became the new head of the Greek Cypriot administration
According to news from the Turkish Cyprus Agency (TAK), the Supreme Election Board of the Greek Cypriot Administration announced the undecided official results of the second round of the presidential elections, whose voting procedures have been finalized.
Thus, Nikos Christodoulidis won the elections with 204,633 and 51.92 percent of the valid votes.
Andreas Mavroyannis, who made it to the second round, finished the race behind Christodoulidis with 189,592 votes and 48.08 percent.
While 406,626 (72.45 percent) of the 561,273 registered voters in the Greek Cypriot Administration of Cyprus (GCA) cast their ballots, 394,225 of the ballots cast were considered valid and 8,422 were considered invalid. 3,979 blank votes came out of the polls.
In the first round of the elections held on the Greek Cypriot side, Christodoulides came first with 32.04 percent of the vote, while Mavroyannis, the other independent candidate supported by the extreme Working People’s Progressive Party (AKEL), left, was second with 29.60. percent of the votes and qualified to participate in the second round.
HRISTODULITIS, GARY’S NEW LEADER
Politician Nikos Christodoulides, 49, became the eighth leader of the Greek Cypriot administration.
Christodoulides, who served as a diplomat at various levels for many years, served as Foreign Minister from 2018-2022.
Christodoulidis also served as a spokesman for the Nikos Anastasiadis government in 2014-2018. (AA)
