Demonstration was held in Sweden demanding a ban on burning the Koran
About 100 people attended the demonstration organized by the Party of Different Colors (Nyans) in front of Parliament demanding a ban on burning the Koran.
The protesters carried banners reading “Stop burning the Holy Quran” and “Stop insulting Muslims.”
Nyans President Mikail Yüksel demanded a minute of silence for those who lost their lives in the magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.
Yüksel stated that Turkey is experiencing the “disaster of the century” and said: “The earthquake disaster in Turkey has deeply saddened all of us. While we convey our best wishes to the Turkish people, we also express our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. We also support the aid sent by the Swedish government to earthquake zones and express our gratitude.” he used his statements.
Stating that the burning of the Koran should be banned in Sweden, Yüksel said that this is a hate crime and has no place in democracies.
Stating that Finland does not allow burning of the Quran and that this is prohibited by law in the country, Yüksel said: “Burning of the Quran should be prohibited in Sweden, like Finland. Finland is doing the right thing.” saying.
Nyans Vice President Caroline Kassem stated that the burning of the Quran is a hate crime and such acts must be prohibited.
On the other hand, cardboard models of Jimmie Akesson, leader of the Swedish Democratic Party, who advocated the burning of the Koran as part of “free speech”, and Johan Pehrson, leader of the Liberal Party, who advocated the closure from religious schools for the children of Muslims, were brought to the area.
Yuksel, who was next to these models, said that both politicians thought and acted like children.
Noting that politicians in other countries were insulted by hanging models by their feet in Sweden, Yüksel added that Akesson and Pehrson’s models would not be hung by their feet, and that there was a limit to everything, including freedom of expression.
THE PROVOCATIVE ACTIONS OF PALUDAN
Rasmus Paludan, the leader of the Danish far-right Strict Direction Party, burned the Koran in front of the Stockholm Embassy in Sweden on January 21 in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, and no one was allowed to approach Paludan during the protest held under the Crowded police protection.
The Swedish government’s permission to burn the Qur’an in Paludan was rejected by many Muslim countries, especially Turkey.
Paludan burned the Koran in front of a mosque in Denmark and in front of the Turkish Embassy in Copenhagen on January 27.
Edwin Wagensveld, leader of the Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West (PEGIDA) movement in the Netherlands, tore up the Koran in The Hague.
Attacks on the Qur’an are protested in Turkey and many countries, Sweden, the Netherlands and Denmark.
