Germany to send 80 tons of relief supplies for earthquake victims
German Interior Ministry spokesman Kall said at the Berlin press conference that they are in close contact with AFAD regarding aid to earthquake victims.
Drawing attention to Germany’s solidarity with Turkey after the earthquake, Kall stated that the Federal Agency for Technical Assistance (THW) arrived in the region this morning with 50 people and 4 dogs, who specialized in seismic disasters and carried out many operations, and that a team of 43 people from the aid organization ISAR went to the region yesterday with 7 dogs. .
Kall shared the information that 25 officers including 3 doctors, 17 paramedics and 5 dog owners are in Turkey with the dogs.
Stating that they will start sending relief materials such as tents, sleeping bags, blankets, cots, heaters and generators, Kall said these will be prepared by THW.
Kall noted that currently 82 tons of materials with a total value of approximately 1 million euros have been directly allocated, and these materials will be packaged and transported to the region by the German armed forces.
The spokesman Kall said that several aid organizations and fire brigades in the country said they would provide assistance, and that the support came from the provinces and from individuals, and that they should reach Turkey and Syria in the best way.
According to the information received from the German Defense Ministry, part of the 82 tons of material will be transferred to the earthquake zone from the Wunstorf military airport in type A 400M aircraft in a short time.
HELP FROM GERMANY WILL BE COORDINATED
In the statement from Germany’s Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief (BBK), it was noted that rapid and effective assistance was needed given the magnitude of the destruction in the earthquake-affected areas and the fact that many people were affected by the freezing cold.
In the statement, it was indicated that after the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, the Joint News and Situation Center (GMLZ) within BBK will coordinate assistance from Germany through the Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) of the European Union (EU). ) and NATO.
It was stressed that specially trained search and rescue teams have been sent to the earthquake zone, and NATO and the EU have also requested medical supplies, equipment and generators needed for the shelter, which will be dispatched quickly to help local authorities to overcome the crisis under the coordination of GMLZ.
50 stores from Lower Saxony
On the other hand, the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Lower Saxony announced that Germany will contribute to the aid to the victims of the earthquake.
In this context, it was reported that the province will deliver 50 tents, 50 tent heaters, 15,000 portable beds, 5,000 blankets and 5,000 changes of clothes to those affected by the earthquake. (AA)
