Minute of silence for Turkey in the French Parliament
Members of the French National Assembly observed a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş.
According to the statement made on the Twitter account of the National Assembly, a session was held in the Assembly due to the earthquakes.
In his speech at the session, National Assembly Speaker Yeal Braun-Pivet said: “An unprecedented earthquake hit southern Turkey and northern Syria one after another on Monday. In this disaster, more than 5 thousand people died, there are thousands of injured, ”he said. Braun-Pivet affirmed that France is mobilizing to offer aid and emergency support to those affected by the disaster.
Braun-Pivet, who affirmed that the French rescue workers began rescue work in the affected areas, invited the deputies to a minute of silence for those who lost their lives in the earthquake and their families.
The deputies attending the session observed a minute of silence in memory of those who lost their lives in Turkey and Syria due to the earthquake.
French MP Amelia Lakrafi asked the National Assembly to explain “how France plans to organize aid to Turkey and Syria.”
On the other hand, it was indicated in the statement that the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria were the “largest earthquakes” to hit the region since 1939.
