Mobilization of aid to Turkey in Germany
Turks living in Germany started relief campaigns at many points to meet the urgent needs of those affected by the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes centered on Kahramanmaraş, which affected 10 provinces.
Turks living in the country began sending packages prepared according to the list of urgent needs to Turkey by trucks, in coordination with the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), at the aid collection centers they set up in Many cities.
Tolga Özgül, president of the Hello & Mahlzeit relief association operating in Cologne, stated that they collected 3 stock materials in a short time and started sending them to the relief areas on a regular basis. Özgül said: “Today, almost 200 people came and donated, especially items like diapers, baby food, hygiene materials and blankets. It doesn’t matter who they are, Turkish, German or Italian, people make incredible donations. An Italian boy just arrived and told me: ‘I have 5 euros, I want to donate’. Everyone is doing the best they can for the earthquake victims.” she used her statements.
THE GOAL IS TO SEND 10 TRUCKS
Saying that not only Turks but also foreigners helped, Özgül said:
“Today our first store is full, now we have two more stores, and they, in other words, all three are full, we will most likely open the fourth store. The first truck will arrive in Gaziantep. We collect our materials according to AFAD’s list of material needs. In the first stage, instead of clothes, we send hygiene materials, baby food, blankets and thermal clothing to keep them warm. Our goal is to reach more people in Turkey. Gökhan Mete, the vice president of our association, will also lift a truck from Kassel and distribute the aid in person. Lots of people want to help. It is a great honor for our people to show unity and solidarity on this bad day. As an association, we will continue to help. We want to bandage people’s wounds with philanthropists. We want to send at least 10 trucks of material to Turkey.” (AA)
