Mexico’s heroic search and rescue dogs sent to Turkey

As teams from many countries begin to arrive in Turkey to participate in search and rescue efforts, the 16 dogs on the team sent by Mexico are striking. It is estimated that the specially trained dogs, which have saved many people in many earthquakes in Mexico in the past, will also be of great help to the teams in Turkey.

The search and rescue team, where dogs of different breeds come together, is known as a hero in Mexico.

There are 16 dogs, including Julia, Ecko, Orly, Timba, Rex and July, among the dogs sent by Mexico, one of the countries affected by the fault in North America and one of the few countries in the world for dog training. search and rescue. While the teams, including the dogs, were said to have left on Tuesday, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard also shared the message: “Our hearts go out to our relief team flying to Turkey right now.”

Mexico’s search and rescue team also includes specially trained dogs.

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had decided to send search and rescue teams of 150 people to Turkey. The team, which includes specially trained dogs of different breeds such as Belgian Malinoi, Australian Shepherd and Labrador, were declared heroes in the 2017 Mexico City earthquake.

Frida, who died last year, saved 45 people from the rubble during her tenure.

The yellow Labrador Frida, who joined the Mexican Navy and died in 2022, became the symbol of the homeland with her glasses and shoes and saved 43 people between 2010-2019.
