Greece extended a helping hand: we are ready to support
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, conveyed his condolences to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, for the earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 with epicenter in Kahramanmaraş and which affected 10 provinces.
In his post on his Twitter account, Dendias stated that he contacted Çavuşoğlu and said: “I said Greece is ready to support damage response and search and rescue efforts.” she used the phrase.
Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis stressed that Greece supported Turkey with all its might because of the earthquake.
Mitsotakis, in his statement prior to the meeting he held with various ministries via teleconference, expressed his sadness over the earthquake, noting that Turkey as a country should be offered all opportunities.
Expressing that Greece has experience in earthquakes, Mitsotakis reminded that teams affiliated with the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) will be sent from Greece to participate in search and rescue efforts in the earthquake area. Mitsotakis also claimed that Greece was the first country to offer support to Turkey.
In the statement made by the Greek Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, it was noted that 21 firefighters and two search and rescue dogs from the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) will leave with special vehicles to be used in search and rescue.
