Southern Cyprus will donate to the Greek Army
According to news from the Greek state agency ERT, during the meeting between Greek Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis and Greek Cypriot leader Nikos Anastasiadis in Athens, the Greek Cypriot administration decided to donate to the Greek army.
The €2.5 million donation was claimed to be a symbolic support to the Greek Air Force after the Greek F-4 type fighter jet crashed in the Ionian Sea on January 30 and the plane’s co-pilot lost his life.
The meeting discussed the search for a sustainable and functional solution in Cyprus and similar economic crisis processes experienced by the Greek Cypriot Administration and Greece.
Anastasiadis, who also met with Greek President Katerina Sakelaropulu, said one of the reasons for coming to Athens was to support parks and social housing in the region after the 2018 fire in the town of Mati, east of Athens. Anastasiadis pointed out that the Greek Cypriot administration decided to support 10 million euros for these structures.
