Investigation into the murder of a black teenager in France resumes
According to the news in the French press based on the statement from the Versailles Prosecutor’s Office, following the criminal complaint filed by the family of Fofana (35) in August 2022, the investigating judge opened an investigation into the death of the young black man on 20 from January.
Judicial authorities will investigate whether there was a criminal element in the death of the black teenager.
BODY FOUND IN THE SEINE RIVER
The body of Fofana, who reportedly died after being detained by police in the Yvelines, was found in the Seine River by the police who arrested her, with police claiming that the young black man drowned in the river while trying to escape.
When his family noticed that Fofana’s skull was significantly deformed in the morgue, the police claimed that his statement did not reflect the truth and demanded that the true cause of Fofana’s death be investigated.
The French prosecutor’s office ruled in March 2021 that there was no need to prosecute Fofana’s death because no criminal element was found in the forensic reports.
FAMILY: FORENSIC REPORT DOES NOT REFLECT THE TRUTH
The black youth’s family protested the decision and filed a new criminal complaint in August 2022, demanding that the forensic reports do not reflect the truth and that the true cause of Fofana’s death be investigated.
Mamadou Fofana is also the young black Adama Traore, who was allegedly killed by French police in 2016, similar to black George Floyd, who was killed by police in the US by pressing his knee against his neck, and whose death “It has been the scene of protests for a long time as a symbol of the reaction to police violence in the country,” he is also considered his cousin.
