Turkey warning in US: They drew attention to Galata, Taksim and Istiklal

The “travel warning tension” between Turkey and Western countries is increasing… Last week, the US, German, French and Italian embassies in Ankara warned their citizens that a possible attack could occur in Istanbul.

In retaliation, Ankara warned Turkish citizens through the Foreign Ministry on Saturday and asked those traveling to the United States and Europe to be careful.

Today, the US Embassy in Ankara issued another warning. In the statement shared on the institution’s official Twitter account, Americans in Turkey were asked to be careful. It was claimed that churches, synagogues and diplomatic offices in Istanbul could be attacked after the Koran burning scandal with Sweden and Denmark.

The warning, issued for the second time in the past four days, read: “A counterattack may come from terrorists,” and drew attention to Beyoğlu, Galata, Taksim and İstiklal, which are frequently visited by “especially Westerners.” The statement also indicated that the Turkish authorities are continuing the investigation.
