5.8 magnitude earthquake in Iran: 2 people died, 664 people were injured
West Azerbaijan Governor Muhammed Sadik Mutedediyan announced that 2 people lost their lives and 664 people were injured in the quake.
Noting that 16 of the injured were taken to the Salmas city hospital, Mutededeedyan stated that 20 people were taken to hospitals in Hoy due to the severity of their injuries, and 6 people were operated on.
Stating that damage occurred in about 70 villages, Mutedededian said, “Experts were sent up to a radius of 30 kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake to determine the possible damage.” saying.
According to information from the website of the Presidency for Disaster and Emergency Management, the magnitude 5.8 earthquake in the city of Hoy occurred at a depth of 6.49 kilometers.
According to the Seismological Center of Iran, the magnitude of the quake, which occurred at 9:44 p.m. local time yesterday, was measured at 5.9.
