Prosecutors say Bankman-Fried recently attempted to contact witnesses, so District Judge Lewis Kaplan was asked not to allow Bankman-Fried to contact current or former FTX employees without a warrant.
Encrypted communication
Prosecutors also asked the judge to ban Bankman-Fried from encrypted communications. This would limit the use of Signal, among other things. However, he is still allowed to communicate via SMS, email and telephone.
Bankman-Fried recently posted $250 million bail and has since been forced to live with his parents after pleading not guilty in the FTX fraud case. Bankman-Fried’s lawyers declined to comment on the case.
