Russia’s tank response: The West is directly involved in the conflict
Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov said he disagreed with comments that the United States and some European countries disagreed with comments that sending tanks and weapons to Ukraine does not mean being involved in the conflict, and said: “We consider everything that the Alliance (NATO) and the countries in question do as direct involvement in the conflict.”
Speaking to reporters in the capital Moscow, Peskov assessed the decision of some Western countries, including the United States and Germany, to send tanks to Ukraine. Noting that Western countries disagreed with the assessments they made regarding the shipment in question, Peskov said: “We believe that the shipment of various weapons systems, including tanks, from European capitals and Washington to Ukraine, in no way means that these Countries or the alliance (NATO) are involved in the conflict in Ukraine. Statements have been made many times. We absolutely do not agree with that,” he said.
Emphasizing that the shipment in question means being directly involved in the conflict, Peskov said: “We regard everything that the Alliance (NATO) and the countries concerned do as direct involvement in the conflict. We see that this is also on the rise,” he said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that his country would further strengthen its military support for Ukraine and decided to supply Leopard 2 main battle tanks. US President Joe Biden also announced that 31 Abrams tanks would be delivered to Ukraine. .
