The human rights organization “Moscow Helsinki Group” was closed in Russia

The Moscow City Court ruled in favor of the liquidation of the organization in the lawsuit filed by the Ministry of Justice for the liquidation of the human rights organization “Moscow Helsinki Group”.

Justice Ministry officials pointed out that although the organization is registered in Moscow, it operates outside the city, while the prosecutor’s office confirmed the ministry’s data and stated that irreparable violations were detected.

Moscow Helsinki Group co-chair Valeriy Borshchev argued that the liquidation would be a blow to the global human rights movement, saying: “The accusations made are absurd. Human rights are beyond borders”. he used his statements.

On December 20, the Russian Ministry of Justice filed a lawsuit for the liquidation of the human rights organization “Moscow Helsinki Group” operating in the country.

The Moscow Helsinki Group was founded in 1976 during the Soviet Union era. The group’s mission is described on the organization’s website as promoting the observance of human rights and building democracy in Russia. To this end, the organization has been trying to detect human rights violations since its creation and ensure compliance with Russia’s international human rights obligations. (AA)
