Response to Erdogan from Mitsotakis: Those who shout: ‘We will come suddenly one night’…

Miçotakis’ response to Erdoğan: Those who lament that ‘we will suddenly come one night’…

The tension between Turkey and Greece continues with mutual explanations on a series of issues, especially the crisis of the Islands.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said last September: “Oh Greek, look at history, go back to history, if you go much further, the price will be high. We only have one prayer for Greece, don’t forget Izmir. Occupying the islands does not bind us. When the time comes, we’ll do whatever it takes. When we say that we can come suddenly one night,” he said, leading to further escalation of tension and harsh reactions in Athens.

‘We don’t have time for this nonsense’

Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis responded yesterday to Erdogan’s words. Mitsotakis, who visited the aviation industry facilities in the Tanagra region, said: “We don’t have time to deal with this nonsense,” referring to Ankara’s remarks.

Mitsotakis, who has vowed to bolster Greece’s defense with new warplanes, accused Turkey of “arrogant aggression.” Referring to Erdogan’s words, the Greek prime minister used the expressions: “Those who say that they will suddenly come one night and scoff, may face the bitter truth when they wake up one morning.”

Mitsotakis said: “I declare once again that our country will not engage in dialogue on meaningless issues,” noting that Greek airspace will be protected like never before with Rafale from France and F-16 fighter jets from the United States.
